Idelle Brown

Idelle Brown is the Managing Director of Belle Tropicals Limited an agribusiness company which exports to USA, Canada and United Kingdom. Idelle is a skilled agri-business professional whose portfolio includes: Crop Research, Crop Production, Export Marketing, Training and Consultancy, serving both the public and private sector. Idelle has managed the marketing and export portfolios of three enterprises and established two fresh produce export packing facilities including that of Belle Tropicals which has generated over US$ 2M. in annual export sales. The Jamaica Agricultural Development Foundation (JADF) and Grace Kennedy Limited were among her previous employers.

Idelle’s career has involved her co-authoring publications and articles re the growing of selected products, and presenting case studies at UWI Faculty of Agriculture & Natural Science (Trinidad), and the OECS Agricultural Conference (Grenada). She has also undertaken training re Good Agricultural Practices, and consultancy projects such as Rural Enterprise and Agricultural Development (READ). Project sponsors included the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation in Agriculture (IICA), Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI) and USAID.

Idelle has a passion for Rural Development, and has served as a member of National Coordinating committees: –All ACP Agriculture Commodities Programme (AAACP); Root Crop Cluster for Agricultural Research and Development; Common Fund for Commodities Caribbean Root Crop Project. Idelle currently serves as a Director of the Jamaica Exporters Association (JEA)

Idelle has membership in the International Society for Horticultural Science, Jamaica Society for Agricultural Sciences, and Jamaica Network of Rural Women Producers. With her passion for networking, product development and technology she chairs the Agriculture and Agribusiness track of Information and Communication Technology for Development in Jamaica (ICT4DJamaica).

She holds an Associate degree, Agriculture from the Jamaica School of Agriculture and two degrees from the University of the West Indies, B.Sc. Economics & Management and Executive MBA (Mona School of Business).
